Upgrade the firmware for a Wireless Access Management ( WAMS ) Reader & Portals

Do you know that OmnilockRepair.com can remotely install this new software and firmware on your computer for a low price?

PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS FIRST BEFORE PERFORMING ANY UPDATES. NEW PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED TO INSURE SMOOTH UPGRADES. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL REQUIRE TECHNICAL SUPPORT THAT IS NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. USE THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Equipment / Software Needed

1. New software for host machine and firmware for Reader and Portal. http://corsecurity.com/support/attachments/WAMS_2_20_113.zip

2. SQL Server Management Studio Express installed on system (on the WAMS CD it is located under the Tools folder or download from Microsoft.)

Pre-Upgrade System Tasks (don't skip these steps!!)

1. Perform a full backup of existing database using SQL Server Management Studio Express (do not just Copy the database file), make sure that your backup file that is stored by default in the C:\ProgramFiles\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup folder is copied to another place other than the system being upgraded as a safety pre-caution.

2. Using the WAMS System Administrator archive Reader Statistics, Portal Statistics and Transaction data to reduce the size of the database file. Make sure that the system has at least 15 GB of disk space to store the archive files.

3. Using the SQL Server Management Studio Express tool shrink the database to recover database space.

4. The system should be at WAMS software version 2.0 build 114 (if your system is not at these versions please contact us and we will provide you those updates)

5. All reader firmware should be at version 220.010 and Portal Gateways at 2.0 build 107 (if your system is not at these versions please contact us and we will provide you those updates)

6. It is best to perform the upgrade when the system isn't as busy since the firmware updates go faster if the readers are not being accessed. Make note that if you upgrade reader firmware there is a short period of time where the reader will not be able to be accessed.

System Upgrade Procedure For Host/Client Software

1. Down load the software from the link below to the host machine's desktop. Once downloaded unzip the file.

2. Turn off the OSI WAMS service and the Default Web Site (under IIS) off. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP

2. Choose the install option, note that you will not need to install Menu item #1 (SQL/ Database install) since that will have been installed with the previous version). Install item #2 Web Services.

3. Install #3 WAMS Applications. (for client machines you will need to install #3 WAMS Applications only. Don't forget to upgrade all machines as you should never run mixed versions of the applications).

4. Verify the install by opening the WAMS Applications, erase any old WAMS shortcuts as you may get an error when you open one.

5. Turn the OSI WAMS service and the Default Web Site (under IIS) on.
